American National’s Insurance Ratings

ANICO stock market

Whenever you are considering an insurance purchase, we always recommend that you check them out financially to make sure there is evidence that the company is financially stable and will be able to pay its claims and other financial obligations.

There are a handful of insurance rating organizations that rate the financial strength of life insurance companies but not every insurer chooses to be rated by every rating service.

ANICO has maintained very high ratings over the years and continues to do so.

  • A.M. Best: rated A (Excellent)
  • Standard & Poor’s: rated A

These very high ratings demonstrate that ANICO is financially sound and will be able to pay claims and operating costs without a problem.

American National Insurance Company Products

Although ANICO offers a complete line of life insurance and annuities, the company also offers personal and commercial property and casualty insurance and various specialty products like credit life insurance, AD&D insurance, and GAP coverage.

The purpose of this article, however, is to review the life insurance products that ANICO offers to hard-working individuals and families across the country.

ANICO Signature Term

ANICO’s Signature Term is traditional term insurance that is fully underwritten and offered at very affordable rates. The term policy is available in 10, 15, 20, 30-year terms and there are several optional riders available so the applicant can broaden their coverage and have access to some living benefits.

Here are actual quotes for a 20-year $250,000 policy for a very healthy male and female non-smoker:

Age of ApplicantMale Non-SmokerFemale Non-Smoker
25$13.61$12.31
30$14.06$12.96
35$15.12$14.04
40$19.87$17.71
45$29.16$23.98
50$43.20$34.78

For accurate rates for your actual age, please submit the insurance quote form on the right side of this page.

It’s also important to note that the ANICO’s Signature Term policies can be converted to an ANICO permanent policy without having to go through medical underwriting again and the policyholder elects to convert their term coverage in the first five years of the policy period, he or she will receive a substantial policy credit.

Besides the conversion option, there are other options available to customize your life insurance coverage.

This is considered a living benefit because it allows the insured to access a portion of the death benefit if diagnosed with a covered chronic, critical, or terminal illness.

Also a living benefit, the disability waiver provides for the insurer to waive premiums when the insured is disabled and cannot work.

This rider allows for the policyholder to insure all dependent children and subsequent children up to age 25 when the coverage can be converted to permanent coverage.

Please see the ANICO Signature Term client brochure for more information about this product.

Freedom Term Life Insurance

For consumers who prefer not have a medical exam and would rather have a policy issued very quickly, ANICO’s FreedomTerm Life Insurance is a solid solution. There is no medical exam required for policy coverage up to $250,000 and the company can generally offer a decision in about 15 minutes.

This no medical exam term insurance is the perfect solution for consumers who need quick coverage for an SBA loan or to satisfy a divorce decree. The available policy terms or 10, 20, and 30-years.

Value Guard Whole Life Insurance

Value Guard Whole Life insurance is the perfect choice for consumers who prefer the guarantees and benefits of whole life insurance and prefer not to submit to a medical exam. ANICO offers death benefits up to $150,000 and typically will have an approval ready in 15 minutes or less.

Like other traditional whole life insurance policies, Value Guard Whole Life comes with the guarantees that many consumers consider most important:

  • Guaranteed coverage for a lifetime. The company cannot cancel your policy except for non-payment of premium.
  • Guaranteed Level Premium Payments. Your whole life premium payment cannot be changed by the insurance company for any reason.
  • Cash Value – Your Value Guard Whole Life policy will accumulate cash value over time that you can easily access through policy loans or surrender.

Legacy Whole Life Insurance

The Legacy Whole Life policy is marketed as final expense insurance because it is a guaranteed issue life insurance policy. The available death benefit is up to $25,000 and eligible applicants must be within age 50 and 80-years old.

There is a two-year waiting period during which the death benefit is reduced to an amount equal to 110$ of paid in premium if the insured’s death is the result of natural causes. Many seniors rely on ANICO’s Legacy Whole life insurance to cover funeral and burial expenses which are typically between $8,000 and $10,000.

ANICO’s Signature Whole Life Insurance

The Signature Whole Life product is a traditional whole life insurance policy that is considered a participating policy which means the policyholder is entitled to dividends. Your dividends can be taken as cash, used to reduce future premiums, or to purchase paid-up additional insurance coverage.

Please see the ANICO Signature Whole Life client brochure for more information about this product.

Signature Guaranteed Universal Life Insurance

The Signature Guaranteed Universal Life product was designed for consumers who want a permanent life insurance policy that also earns cash value, but is priced under traditional whole life insurance.

As with traditional universal life insurance, the Guaranteed Universal Life policy provides the flexibility that policyholders need to accommodate life events that require a premium adjustment or even a death benefit adjustment.

The cash value that accumulates in the policy can be accessed at any time and for any reason through tax-free policy loans or partial surrender of the policy.

Please see the ANICO Guaranteed Univeral Life client brochure for more information about this product.

ANICO Signature Indexed Universal Life Insurance

Indexed Universal life insurance (IUL) has become very popular over the last two decades because the policy not only provides a guaranteed death benefit but also allows the policyholder to accumulate significant wealth over their lifetime.

A portion of the premium in the IUL policy goes to a cash account that is linked with one or more indices and the cash account earns interest based on the performance of the indices. Although none of your money is invested directly in the market, you are able to benefit from the market when it performs.

Many consumers use the IUL along with traditional retirement products because there are no constraints on the IUL like there are on a 401(k) or IRA. When the time comes to withdraw money from the cash account, the policyholder can do so via policy loans that are not considered income and therefore they are tax-free.

Please see the ANICO Signature Protection Indexed Univeral Life client brochure for more information about this product.

Please see the ANICO Signature Performance Indexed Univeral Life client brochure for more information about this product.

To learn more about establishing a tax-free retirement income, we suggest that you read David McKnight’s The Power of Zero so you’ll have a clear understanding of how the IUL could be your lifesaver during retirement.

President at Intramark Insurance Services

In my 30+ years as an independent life and disability insurance broker, I have personally assisted thousands of clients with their life and disability insurance needs.

I believe that when people shop for insurance (or anything else, for that matter) on the Internet, they are looking for a simple, non-intrusive, non-pressure method of doing so.

I strive to treat my prospective clients with the utmost respect and I believe an educated prospect can make the right decision without sales pressure.

Being independent, I represent many highly-rated insurance companies and, because I am not beholden to any one insurance company, my focus is to find the right company and policy for each individual client.
